Battery Dead
Firstly you should ensure that the batteries are completely new and have enough power to run the trimmer. If the trimmer wasn’t used for several months, its battery might be dead.
However, if you have not replaced the battery for a long time, the battery will be drained. So, you should remove the battery and replace it with a new one.
Remove the cap from the battery compartment by pushing it down gently. And then insert the battery inside the compartment.
Ensure the battery’s “-” and “+” poles are in the right direction; the instruction for the battery will be mentioned in the battery compartment.
Once you have done this, put the cap back on the battery compartment. And then, run the trimmer to ensure that it is working.
If the trimmer is not working, there might be other issues. Here is a video of inserting the battery in your Micro touch trimmer.
Check the Shaft
While you have fixed the power issue of the trimmer and know the battery isn’t faulty. You should ensure that the motor’s shaft is running. To verify this, you will need to remove the head assembly of your Micro touch.
Remove the guard from the cutting blades and part it gently with the help of a screwdriver. And then, turn the power switch on and ensure the shaft moves.
If it is not running, the motor might have an issue; turn the power switch off and gently press the shaft in or outside.
And then, turn the switch on and verify the trimmer is now working. You can repeat it one or two times in different ways.
The blades will be dirty, so you should clean them with a brush that comes with the trimmer. If the shaft works, you should read the following solution for the dirty blades.
Dirty Blades
The cutting unit may be dirty if the motor has no issues and the shaft is running freely. So, you should ensure that the blades are not contaminated. If dirt or hair is accumulated, it can cause the trimmer to stop.
You should clean them by the following methods, and we recommend you clean them after every use.
- Rinse it under the tap water and ensure the handle is not in touch with the water. And then, turn the trimmer on for 10 seconds, and turn it off for 5 seconds. You can replete this process 3 or 4 times.
- Insert the cutting unit of your trimmer into a glass of lukewarm water. Avoid inserting the handle inside the water; it can cause internal electric damage. And then repeat step 1.
- Apart from the cutting, unite and rinse it separately in the water for 30 minutes. And then assemble and repeat step 1. Then you should turn the trimmer on to ensure it is fixed.
- You should avoid using alcohol, soap, or other abrasive material to clean it. They can cause damage and don’t use hard or sharp objects.
Short Circuit
If the trimmer smells or smokes like burning, there will be a short circuit issue in your trimmer. So, you should turn it off instantly. It can cause severe damage; remove the battery from the trimmer.
Disassemble the cutting unit and apart the trimmer to check the issues inside the trimmer. If the circuit is burned, you should replace it or buy a new trimmer.
But in case there is a solder disconnected, you should fix it with a solder gun. And assemble the trimmer, and turn it on to ensure working.
Motor or Blades Jammed
If the motor or shaft is not running and the cutter is not working too. The motor might be seized, or the blades might be jammed. You should ensure you have oiled the trimmer properly; the motor or blades can clog due to friction.
So, you should oil the motor and blades and then verify that they are fixed. We recommend you oil your trimmer regularly after use.
One drop of oil is enough for a completely clean blad. You can use trimmer oil; if you don’t have access, you can use sewing machine oil or coconut oil.
The blades might have alignment issues so, you should watch the below video.
Contact Manufacturer
Lastly, you should contact the manufacturers if the trimmer isn’t still fixed. They will help to fix or repair your trimmer if it is under warranty. However, if you have no way to fix it, we recommend you buy a new high-quality trimmer.
