There will be several reasons behind the issue of your Wahl nose trimmer. Don’t worry; I am here to help you. To fix the problem, keep reading the below fixes.
Let’s move forward to the point!
How to Fix Wahl Nose Trimmer Not Working
While you have plugged your Wahl nose trimmer on charging, ensure the power on/off button is off. And then, check if the trimmer is overheated, unplug it from the charger, and let it cool down. If the trimmer smells burning, there might be a short circuit issue. Further, these are the solutions that you should try first.
Quick Fixes
- Charge the trimmer; it might run out of battery.
- Its battery connection to the circuit might be faulty.
- The battery should replace; it is faulty.
- The cutting unit or the motor will be blocked.

Trimmer Run Out of Battery
If you have bought a new Wahl trimmer and it is not working, you should ensure you have charged it fully; because it does not come with the charged battery to save the battery life. Plug the trimmer for at least 2 to 3 hours in the charging.
An indicator LED will illuminate your nose trimmer when it is safely plugged into the charger. And then check it to ensure it is fully charged.
On the other hand, the problem might be because you have not used it for several months. It can run out of battery and must be charged before use. So, in the same way, plug into the charger for 2 or 3 hours.
If the nose trimmer has a low battery problem, charging for about 3 hours will fix it. If the issue is not fixed, read the next fixes.
Battery Connection Faulty
If the nose trimmer is charged and still not working, its battery connection may be faulty. If the battery is not connected to the circuit, it can be the reason your trimmer is not working. I have not used my trimmer for several months, and its battery connector is broken.
So, we recommend you check that its battery connection can be disabled. And I have a video inserted below to help you to understand.
Let’s get started; open the trimmer with the help of an electric tester or screwdriver. Gently remove the parts to avoid damaging them.
If the battery connector or other solder is disconnected, they cause it to stop working. You should fix them immediately and use a solder gun to connect them. If you do not have the solder gun or can fix it, you can visit a nearer electric repair shop.
Battery is Dead
If the trimmer was not used for several months or you have been using it for a long time, its battery may be defective. It needs to be replaced with a new one. Remove the lithium-ion battery from your Wahl nose trimmer and add a new one.
While replacing the battery, ensure the “-” and “+” points of the battery are in the right directions. This can be indicated on the battery compartment.
To increase the battery life, you should use the trimmer until the complete battery drains and the blade’s work slows down. Use it after completely charging the battery.
Check Charging Cable
When the battery is replaced, and your Wahl nose trimmer isn’t working, you should check the charging cable. It is possible that the charging cable is faulty and it is not charging the trimmer. Although we recommend using an original Wahl charging cable with your trimmer.
To check the charging cable, you should plug the trimmer with another charging cable that you know is working correctly. If the trimmer is working after plugging in with the new charger, the older charging cable is faulty and needs to be replaced with a new one.
Change Power Source
If you are charging it with a new original charging cable, it is still not working. You should ensure the electric socket works correctly and provides enough power to the trimmer. If the power source is faulty, the trimmer will not be able to work.
You should unplug it from this wall outlet and plug it into the new power source that you are sure is working. And then check to verify it is charging and starting working.
The cutting Unit is Blocked
If you have confirmed that the battery is not faulty and fully charged, it is still not working. It can not work because it will be dirty and its cutting unit is blocked. So, you should verify that the trimmer is clean; we recommend cleaning it after every use.
- Clean its trimming head or blades with the help of a clean brush and remove hair and dirt particles.
- Reins the trimming head into lukewarm water; Turn the trimmer on, run it for 15 seconds, and turn it off for 5 seconds. Repeat the process three or four times.
- If the first step isn’t working, you should wash the trimming head of the nose trimmer in warm water. Immerse the head in a glass of water for a few minutes. Ensure the handle is not put into the water, as it can damage its internal machinery.
- If still the issue is not fixed, you should part the attachments of the trimmer and sock them separately into the water for 1 hour. And then, put back on your nose trimmer and repeat step 2 again.
- So, if the trimmer is operating again, clean the excess water from it and let the trimmer dry in the air.
- You should clean the trimmer after every use and lubricate it with the trimmer or sewing machine oil for better results.
