Let’s get started!

How to Fix Wahl Magic Clipper Pulling Hair?

These are the solutions that will help fix your Wahl clipper.

Oil Blades

Firstly before doing anything, you should ensure that the blades are properly oiled. Because if the blades are not lubricated, you can face the hair-pulling issue. However, the manufacturer suggested oiling the blades in this situation will fix the problem.

So, if you do not have oiled your clipper, take a clipper oil and drop two drops on the blades. And turn the clipper power switch on, and let it run for 15 seconds. Clean the excess oil with the help of a tissue or towel.

Lubricating the clipper helps to prevent it from overheating and running cooler. To keep running your clipper correctly, we suggest oiling it before every use.

And then start cutting and styling your hair smoothly. However, if you do not have access to clipper oil, you can use a sewing machine oil, and coconut or vegetable oil will also be okay for lubricating the clipper.

Sharpen Blades

Secondly, while the clipper is totally oiled, it still pulls hair; you should sharpen the blades. If the blade’s cutting ends are too thick, they pull hair rather than cut.

Sharpened blades will cut hair smoothly and do not cause overheating clippers. Although sharpening and cleaning the blades, every 3 or 4 uses is recommended.

Like many users, you probably do not know how to sharpen your clipper’s blades. I also have solved this problem and mentioned a video for you.

Tension in Blades

If the blades pull hair rather than cut them smoothly, the issue can be with the free blade. There are two types of blades: the first one is fixed, and the second is moving.

So, when the moving blade does put enough tension on the permanent blade, it causes pulling hair.

Open your Wahl clipper and unscrew the two screws from the top of your clipper. And then re-tighten the armature, but remember you should not screw them too tight.

Because the blades will not be able to move; so screw them at ideal tightness. However, you can watch the below video to do this step by step.

Fix Power Screw

If the blades are moving too slowly, it can cause the pulling of your hair. There will be two reasons for their slow movements: the one low input and the second power screw issue.

So, if you have a corded clipper, ensure the power socket provides enough electricity.

However, for the rechargeable/ cordless clipper, ensure the battery is fully changed. On the other hand, Wahl clippers have a power screw on the right side of the clipper that changes its settings.

Take a screwdriver and rotate the screw clockwise until the clipper makes a loud noise. Rotate a little bit when it sounds loud, and let it go when the clipper stops squeaking.

These steps might vary for your Wahl clipper, and you can read the owner’s manual to fix the power-up screw.

You will probably understand the whole process correctly by watching the video; I have one for you.

Replace Blades

Once you have done all the above solutions, your Wahl clipper is still pulling hair. A possible solution to fix the issues will be replacing the blades. If the blades are broken or are too old, the recommendation is to replace them.

A pair of new blades will help to style and cut hair smoothly and level up your cutting experience. Although you have to be careful with oiling the new blades.

Contact Manufacturer

If the problem persists, you should contact the manufacturer and tell them about it. They will help you to fix it if they have any solutions. Although if the clipper is under warranty, you can get it repaired or replaced without cost.
